9th October - Tom Millar Quartet + Ibbetson/Hanslip/Simmons/Brice

Tom Millar - Piano
James Opstad - Bass
Mike Clowes - Drums
Alex Roth - Guitar

Coming up this week we are proud to present two Fantastic bands.

The Tom Millar Quartet formed at the beginning of 2011 as the main outlet for Tom’s playing and composition, the band also plays tunes by Alex and James, and aims to fully explore the textural possibilities inherent in the ensemble. Band members share a strong interest in composition, and as a result their repertoire includes strong melodies, intricate rhythmic grooves, and creative use of elements of free playing and unusual forms.

As a composer-in-residence on the National Youth Orchestra for three years he had his compositions performed at major venues around the country, including the Barbican, Tate Modern, Symphony Hall Birmingham and as part of a video instillation at the RCA.
