Tuesday 29th January: GEORGE CROWLEY/CHRIS BATCHELOR/TOM FARMER/JEFF WILLIAMS

Chris Batchelor is one of the most highly respected and admired trumpeters and composers here in the UK. Former Loose Tubes, leader of Big Air and involved in many other projects, Chris has played alongside international stars such as Michael Brecker, Sam Rivers, Hermeto Pascoal, Tim Berne and Uri Caine. In November 2009 he was selected to receive the prestigious Paul Hamlyn Award for Composers.

George Crowley has been turning heads on the London and UK scenes, particularly since the release of his debut album this year on Whirlwind Recordings. An active member of the London jazz scene both as a performer and a promoter, he has played with the likes of Gareth Lockrane, Jim Hart, Michael Janisch, Kit Downes, Ivo Neame, Tom Challenger’s Brass Mask and many more.

Tom Farmer is perhaps best known for his role in Empirical, with whom he won a MOBO award, but he is also one of the cornerstones of the young London and U.K. jazz scenes, playing in countless bands, and infusing them all with a big groove and massive sound.

In a career spanning four decades drummer Jeff Williams‘ musical associates have included Stan Getz, Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman and Lookout Farm, Joe Lovano, Paul Bley, Bill McHenry, Ethan Iverson, Tony Malaby, and many more. Jeff’s latest album ‘Another Time‘ was nominated for a Downbeat award and elected an All About Jazz Album of the Year.
