Tuesday August 27th: DOUBLE-BILL! Postcard to Bill / Henry Spencer and Juncture

It was lovely to see the Amersham packed out once again for Preston-Glasgow-Lowe this week, and a good time was had by all! Next week we have a fantastic double-bill for you featuring some established talent alongside some fresh faces…

Postcard to Bill

Bruno Heinen: Piano

Kristian Borring: Guitar

Join us for this intimate set of unexpected arrangements of works by the great Bill Evans played by pianist Bruno Heinen and guitarist Kristian Borring. The duo pays homage to Bill Evans' long time partnership with guitarist Jim Hall, although this duo focuses on the lesser known and under-played works of the great Pianist. This is the first of a series of concerts by the duo, leading up to a recording to be released on the Babel Label next year.

Henry Spencer and Juncture

Henry Spencer: Trumpet

Rob Brockway: Piano

Nick Costley-White: Guitar

Andrew Robb: Bass

David Ingemells: Drums

Juncture is a fresh and exciting quintet performing original compositions from the pen of leader/trumpet player Henry Spencer. Drawing on influences from jazz, rock and minimalism, the ensemble creates an achingly contemporary sound world with a focus on emotional and creative expression. Having met whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music, Juncture are able to draw upon years of playing together, resulting in a deep musical understanding and interaction between the musicians. This musical empathy, along with Henry’s fresh compositional approach led them to winning the Best Newcomer award at the Marlborough Jazz Festival following their debut performance.

We look forward to welcoming both these terrific bands to the Amersham next Tuesday, music from 8.30 / £5 on the door. See you there!
