Roll-up, roll-up,
it’s double-bill time again! After the eclectic juxtaposition of folk,
free-form, spoken word and contemporary jazz this week courtesy of Laura Cole
and Joe Howell’s bands next week we have an all-out battle of the power-trios!
Not to be missed…
Martin Kolarides Trio
Martin Kolarides – Guitar
Arthur Lea – Organ
Pete Ibbetson – Drums
An exciting sonic
reworking of the Organ Trio format, this SECollective ensemble lead by
Guitarist Martin Kolarides, with Arthur Lea - Organ and Pete Ibbetson - Drums,
takes its inspiration from the other worldly atmospherics of Bill Frisell and
Brian Eno, whilst fusing the infectious rhythmic stylings of such diverse
sources as west African Soukous/Lingala through to a touch of classic Wayne
Krantz wrapped up in memorable compositions and lyrical improvising.
Native Dancer
Sam Crowe – Keyboards
Jon Harvey – Bass
Alexis Nunez – Drums
Native Dancer is
the brain-child of bass player Jon Harvey, keyboard player Sam Crowe and
rockjazz purple tiger, Alexis Nunez on drums.
Through experimentations with psychedelic soundworlds,
fusing influences from hiphop, trip-hop, be-bop and rock to Weather Report,
Herbie Hancock and Frank Zappa, expect to hear explosive grooves and filthy
beats.
The duel commences at 8.30, £5-on-the-door, who will
be the last man standing?
